TV SUPPORTING CHARACTERS WHO DO MORE THAN SUPPORT

Want to spice up your show? Then find marvelous actors like these to help you. Nick Searcey on JUSTIFIED, Tony Hale on VEEP, John Slattery on MAD MEN, CarrielPreston on THE GOOD WIFE and Margo Martindale on JUSTIFIED and THE AMERICANS. And the greatest of them all: Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut on BREAKING BAD. (And now on COMMUNITY).

Who are your favorite backup players?

Definitely John Slattery of MAD MEN. I rank his character as an equal with Don Draper.

I was surprised to see the wins of Brooklyn 99. I don't think I'd heard much about it. Do you watch it?

I tried to watch it but find it pretty unwatchable except for Andre Braugher. I especially dislike the guy who got the award. The fix must be in.

Patti, I don't watch serious television drama. However, from the comedy serials I have seen in the past, the late Peter Boyle (Everybody Loves Raymond) comes to mind. Take him out and there's little to ELR.

He's a great example!

I have to admit I don't watch all those shows but I certainly agree with you on the ones I do watch. Banks was good as the handler all the way back on WISEGUY with Ken (whatever happened to?) Wahl. I hate to see Martindale wasted on the crappy sitcom she's on now.

Rick: what Patti said. I liked Andre Braugher (of course) and the woman who plays the tough cop but I HATE Andy Samberg's "man child" lead and can't believe he won. He's annoying and painfully unfunny IMHO.
