Sorry to hear about her passing. In my early adulthood (which coincided quite closely with the growth of the feminist movement), she was quite an icon.
Not to put too blunt a point on it, she was cool. As well as a leading Voice as feminist poet/essayist, equal stress on all.
Thank you for posting this. For us, she was a local poet as well as a nationally acclaimed one. News trickled through the bookstore, and was upsetting to the longterm workers here. I think she could be a bit standoffish with the fan base, understandably, but she was always just terrific with us. It's a loss.
