You know you're even older when you think, "Who the heck is that covering that song by the Velvet Underground?"

OR - you know when you're old when you think of groups like these as PLZ - Post-Led Zeppelin.

You guys make me feel pretty young. I barely know who the Velvet underground is.

I love Cowboy Junkies' version of this song. I think it's better than the Velvet Underground/Lou Reed version.

Should I duck?

You know you're really old when you've never heard of any of this.

See, now I don't remember the Velvet Underground really. That was my sunk in motherhood era whereas the Cowboy Junkies was when my kids were teenagers so I knew all the music.

I have to confess I didn't know that much about the Velvet Underground either. I was too mainstream for that - my loss.

I can remember most music before 1995 and "Common Disaster" from the Junkies' "Lay It Down" is one of my favorite songs to write to.

Now, certain vocabulary words such as "prejorative" and who coached Ohio State before Jim Tressel? That vexes me for days and I try to recall those things without the aid of Google.

My question about the CJ's version is why they start in the middle of the song. I'll take Sweet Lou any day.

I really was not favoring this version. I randomly chose a song of theirs on you tube to illustrate the name that eluded me. It's hard to top Lou Reed.
