HUMMINGBIRDS, by Joshua Gaylord

Girls reading.

This is my son-in-law's cover for his first novel, coming out from Harper Collins this fall. Visit his site and learn to diagram a sentence. Or read a few pages of this rollicking novel. He is one terrific writer.

P.S. The novel is about a girls' school on the upper east side of New York, hence the notebook page cover.

I loved diagramming sentences when I was a kid. It was one of the few things I was good at.

I like the cover. It's subtle but beautifully designed.

I never diagrammed in school, so this is an entirely new method for me.

The book looks like it would be an interesting read.

We diagrammed like crazy in 7th and 8th grade.
